Come and join our exciting and fantastic Dance classes! We teach many styles of Dance including Hop Hop, Funky Jazz Dance, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Lyrical Jazz, Ballet and Tap.

Funky Jazz - A very popular form of dance, performed to a wide variety of Pop music.

Hip Hop - A strong and athletic style of dance, primarily using Funk, Rap and R + B music to dance to.

Ballet - A Classical Dance form and which is the Foundation for all forms of Dance.

Creative Dance - A magical and fun introduction to Dance for all younger students.

Classes are open to all HKIS Students and non-HKIS students. All the way from Lower Primary to High School students, including classes for Beginners through to Advanced dance.

Now in its’ 30th successful year at HKIS, this unique Programme, offers World class training. Our Senior and Advanced Dance students are now the Asian winners of the "Get The Beat" dance competition in Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary Dance styles.

The aim of the Dance Programme is to nurture all students through their love of music and dance, a strong emphasis is placed on performing and the joy of dance. Classes are taught by a passionate and expert team of Professional dancers and Teachers from the Glenda Allen Dance Academy.

Dance students take part in the highly acclaimed Dance and Musical Theatre stage performances at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA).

Hip Hop Dance

Schedule: Wednesday 15:00-16:00
Fee: $3960 - includes 1 extra rehearsal for Annual Showcase Performance (11 classes)

Open to girls and boys! Hip Hop is danced primarily to funk, rap and R & B music. It is a very energetic, strong and athletic dance form. Individual moves are also taught and incorporated into Hip Hop dances with the emphasis being placed on style and working as a 'TEAM' or 'CREW' and supporting each other. And GROOVING to the music!

Our Ballet classes are structured to introduce the JOY of DANCE to all our aspiring young Ballet students! The myth is that Ballet has to be strict - NOT TRUE! Ballet is for everyone and with the right Teacher, it is extremely enjoyable! Students will learn how to skip, plie, run on their demi-pointes like a Ballerina and twirl gracefully!! Smiles and cuteness are guaranteed!

Funky Jazz Dance

Schedule: Thursday 15:00-16:00
Fee: $4290 - includes 1 extra rehearsal for Annual Showcase performance (12 classes)

Funky Jazz is a very popular Dance style performed to a wide variety of Pop music, including R & B. Our Funky Jazz Dance classes are a lot of fun and our students learn how to perform various dance steps, sequences and dance routines. They are also taught about alignment, strength, flexibility and musicality. Jazz Dance is often associated with dance musicals such as "Fame" and "Chicago".

Creative Dance

Schedule: Saturday 08:45-09:30 am
Fee: $4290 (13 classes - includes 1 extra rehearsal for Annual Showcase performance)

Open to girls and boys! Creative Dance is the most wonderful and FUN introduction to dance for young children! They will learn to skip, hop and galop their way to happiness and may just not want to go home!! Emphasis is placed on the JOY of Dance! We also use Props in the class which adds to the fun and squeals of pure enjoyment!!
