K-Pop Idols: Song and Dance Workshop

Prerequisites:

Open to students entering grade(s): Grade 3 - 5

Course Description:

Calling all young Dancers and Performers who LOVE K-Pop! Come and join us in an ultimate K-Pop Performance Intensive workshop! This very exciting and high-energy course will give your child the chance to master the iconic choreography of global superstars like BTS, KATSEYE, and BLACKPINK. During this adventure, students will form their very own K-Pop groups, choose their roles and work together to polish their stage presence. Each week is a different famous choreography to learn, and a little show at the end of the camp will give your child the chance to showcase everything they’ve learned! Beyond the dance floor, your child will also dive into the “Idol” experience by creating their own group branding and learning about K-Pop Styling.

Learner Outcomes:

Students will

• Learn a variety of famous choreography from THREE famous K-Pop bands over the 3-week course. They will also create their own groups and learn about K-Pop styling.
  
  The themes being taught this year over the course:
  Session 1 (AM)
  Week 1 – Creating their own K-Pop Band and “BLACKPINK”
  Week 2 - “BTS” and K-Pop Styling
  Week 3 – “KATSEYE”

• Learn a variety of choreography from the chosen K-Pop Groups
• Memorise dance choreography from their hit songs
• Develop K-Pop bands in a fun and nurturing environment
• Explore and develop creativity, confidence and fun through music and dance
• Arts and crafts section in which students will make their own accessories for their performance. Students will also learn how to create their own K-Pop style and will be encouraged to create their own from various items of clothing they have at home.
• Students will have the opportunity to perform a little show for their parents at the end of the camp
  

Methodology:

• Sessions will begin with a dance and vocal warm-up
• Famous choreography from the THREE global K-Pop sensations (BTS, KATSEYE and BLACKPINK) will be taught
• Students will form their very own K-Pop groups, choose roles and work together to build team synergy
• Memorize dynamic dance routines and master iconic “point moves” from hit songs
• Dive into K-Pop Styling, exploring group branding and participating in an arts and crafts session to create their own performance accessories
• Develop creativity, confidence and stage presence in a fun and nurturing environment
• Encourage personal expression by creating unique K-Pop styles using items from home and handcrafted pieces
• Perform a live showcase for parents at the end of the camp to debut their hard work and new skills
• Emphasis will be placed on building confidence and working in a team whilst having fun
