Growing Confident Communicators through Story-Telling and Language Games
Prerequisite:
Open to students entering grade(s): Reception 2
Course Description:
A lively course that encourages speaking, listening and imaginative thinking in a language-rich, play-based setting. The course will have a strong focus on story-telling, oral language games, imagination and fun.
Over the three weeks, children will explore a range of stories, characters, and imaginative worlds while taking part in structured oral language games, shared storytelling, role-play and creative activities. All activities are designed to promote positive social interaction, turn-taking, vocabulary development, and enjoyment of language.
Learner Outcomes:
Students will:
- Develop confidence in speaking in a group
- Building self-esteem through expression of ideas
- Exposure to a range of new vocabulary
- Grow ability to listen attentively and respond appropriately
- Retell and create simple stories
- Grow key narrative skills: sequencing, describing, predicting
- Have fun!
