Basketball Academy Tier 1 (Upper Primary)

Gold, Silver & Bronze Squads

Gold, Silver & Bronze Squads - is a select program that caters to those that want to further develop their skills and knowledge of the game through higher intensity training sessions and game opportunities on a weekly basis. An assessment day will be held around the start of each school year to determine the correct placing of all players.

The Tier 1 squads play as the Southside Hawks and offers our talented young players the opportunity to train all year and compete against some of the Territory's best junior players in the HKJBL (Hong Kong Junior Basketball League). Tier 1 Squad players are expected to train twice per week and matches on Saturdays when selected. There are 3 age groups Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14, as of September of each school year (i.e 9, 11, or 13 years old, respectively, as of Sep 1).

Players identified and selected from the assessment day will be streamed into one of the three Divisions of this tier.

Division 1 Gold Squad-Plays in Division 1 of the HKJBL
Division 2 Silver Squad-Plays in Division 2 of the HKJBL
Division 3 Bronze Squad-Plays in Division 3 of the HKJBL

If players are not selected they will be offered practice options with these squads to improve their skills. They will also be encouraged to join the Saturday Recreational match play class to play more.

Assessment Day 2024-25 School Year

Saturday Aug 17th at HKIS Tai Tam campus High School Gym (Further extended assessment may be required)

12-2pm U10 Boys and Girls

2-4pm U12 Boys and Girls

4-6pm U14 Boys and Girls

Term 1 Fee: $7000 (plus uniform fees)-Registration and payment for Term 1 will be done after the assessment day.

Term 2 Fee: $7000 (plus uniform fees if applicable)-Current players will have priority to register directly for Term 2 at their current level with the same practice days and times.

To determine if an activity is inclusive i.e. non-competitive and all students are welcome or selective i.e. competitive and students will need to an Assessment Day, you can refer to the below icons featured next to each activity throughout this brochure. The Hawks Tier One Academy Squad requires attending the Assessment Day.
