The Genius Workshop (Term 2)

About The Genius Workshop

Since 2004, The Genius Workshop has been a pioneer in Hong Kong's STEM education landscape. Unlike traditional academic settings, our innovative programs immerse students in the applied sciences and cutting-edge technologies shaping our world.

From engineering and robotics to coding and experimental sciences, our thoughtfully-curated curriculum sparks curiosity and taps into the natural creativity of young minds. Through hands-on, play-based learning, our vision is to empower the next generation with the essential skills and mindsets needed to navigate an increasingly complex future. By fostering a love of lifelong learning and discovery, we aim to cultivate students to not just adapt to change, but to be one driving it.

Course & Schedule Details

Term 2 - Primary School Divisions

ActivityGradeScheduleFeeDescription
Super Science Lab: Biology & Nature[Reception 1 - 2]Thursday
16:00-17:00
$3900 (12 classes) + $300 (material fee)Students will explore the realms of Biology and Nature through hands-on science experiments, such as creating models of the solar system, learning about body organs and systems, and launching air rockets. Each thoughtfully designed experiment encourages young learners to investigate these fascinating subtopics. By focusing on learning through play, these engaging activities turn every lesson into an enjoyable adventure in science!
Build & Code: Intro to Robotics[Grade 1 - 2]Thursday
14:50-15:50 OR 16:00-17:00
$3900 (12 classes)In this program, students will use a unique LEGO®-compatible system to build a variety of projects that deepen their engineering knowledge and introduce basic coding concepts through an intuitive interface designed for their age. They will integrate motors and various wireless sensors with different functions into their creations. By constructing these projects and programming the sensors and motors to perform tasks and overcome challenges, students will gain their first hands-on experience in operating robots.
Code with Scratch[Grade 3 - 4]Friday
14:50-15:50 OR 16:00-17:00
$3250 (10 classes)Create your own apps, games, and animations, including a unit on Pokémon Scratch, in the world of coding with Scratch - a vibrant, block-based programming language developed by MIT. Students will embark on a journey of discovery, learning to code through engaging projects that spark creativity and innovation. Whether they are new to coding or have some experience, Scratch offers a dynamic environment where students can experiment, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life.
Drone Code Pilot: Code & Collab[Grade 4 - 5]Friday
14:50-15:50 OR 16:00-17:00
$4400 (11 classes)

Get ready for an exciting new chapter in your drone journey! Term 2 course is perfect for both new-joiners and returning students, as there will be new class content, but no prior experience is required.

  • Collab-Flying: Experience the thrill of flying multiple drones as a team! Collaborate with fellow students to execute coordinated flights. This unique aspect fosters teamwork and enhances your piloting skills.
  • Friendly Matches: Put your skills to the test in matches against your peers and fellow schools! Compete in a fun and supportive environment that encourages sportsmanship, all while perfecting your drone maneuvers.
  • Enhanced Learning Experience: In drone-coding, manual piloting skills, e-sports actions, and obstacle course challenges!
Roblox Game Developer[Grade 5]Friday
16:00-17:00
$3250 (10 classes)Roblox, a popular gaming platform for children, allows players to choose from a variety of games; many of these games are created by users in the community. In Roblox Game Developer, students will explore Roblox Studio, the software for game creation, to develop different games using the LUA scripting language. Coding can often seem vague and uninteresting to beginners. This course aims to merge the excitement of gaming with the intricacies of coding, offering students a fun and educational experience as they design and test their own games.

Term 2 - Middle School Division

ActivityGradeScheduleFeeDescription
Roblox Studio Game Dev Mastery with Lua[Grade 6 - 8]TBCTBCThis program advances our Grade 5 Roblox Game Dev course by going into real Lua scripting—a lightweight, game-optimized language closely related to Python, with shared concepts like loops, functions, variables, and conditionals. Students will build immersive 3D experiences using Roblox Studio’s terrain tools, physics engine, and AI features, then code dynamic gameplay from leaderboards to NPC behaviours. Interactive game design sparks imagination while developing algorithmic reasoning and debugging skills essential for college and tech careers. With no prior Lua needed, our scaffolded curriculum bridges Grade 5 basics to advanced scripting in one semester.
Advance SPIKE™ Prime Robotics with Python[Grade 6 - 8]TBCTBCThis program elevates our current EV3 and SPIKE Scratch courses by introducing real Python coding with LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime’s sensors, motors, and Hub. Students transition from block-based logic to text-based programming, mastering loops, functions, variables, and conditionals—the language adopted by NASA, Google, and AI. Hands-on robot builds ignite creativity while building algorithmic thinking and problem-solving skills that colleges and tech careers demand. With no prior knowledge in Python required, our scaffolded curriculum bridges Scratch to advanced coding in one semester.
