Course Description::
Join us for an exciting journey into the world of theater! In "Script to Stage: Playwrights & Performers," students in 2nd and 3rd grade will explore the magic of storytelling through acting and writing. This hands-on course invites young creators to become both playwrights and performers, where imagination knows no bounds!
Learner Outcomes:
Students will:
- Learn how to write their own short plays by discovering how to create characters, build stories, and add dialogue that makes people laugh and think
- Practice acting techniques, including voice projection, body movement, and expression. They'll get to perform scenes, bringing their words to life on stage
- Collaborate with classmates, sharing ideas, giving feedback, and supporting each other as they create their performances
- Culminate in a fun showcase via their original plays with friends and family
Methodology:
The "Script to Stage: Playwrights & Performers" course employs an interactive and engaging methodology to introduce young learners to theater arts.
Students participate in interactive workshops featuring fun games and guided learning to explore playwriting using mentor texts and acting skills inspired by every day life. They collaborate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and develop short plays.
Through skill-building exercises, students learn acting techniques and rehearse scenes, enhancing their performance abilities. They also engage in creative design workshops, where they explore set and costume design, integrating visual elements into their performances.
The course includes structured rehearsals to build confidence and teamwork, culminating in a final showcase where students perform for family and friends. This methodology fosters creativity, confidence, and collaboration, providing a joyful introduction to the world of theater.
