Creative Adventures

Course Description:
Creative Adventures offers students exciting opportunities to invent, design, make and create a range of artworks. We will be learning a variety of drawing and painting skills along the way, as we make mixed media canvases, stitching our own soft toys / stuffies, make 3d paper mache models and more.
Using inspiration from a variety of sources including Studio Ghibli artworks and ourselves students will work on their own artworks as well as making collaborative pieces together.

Students will:
- Learn how art enables us to learn about themselves and the world
- Learn how drawing helps us to represent the world through various techniques
- Learn how art can help us express personal stories
- Learn the language and vocabulary of art as they discuss each other’s work
- Develop their design, drawing and painting abilities
- Learn how to design and sew their own stuffed toy
- Learn how to use basic paper mache techniques to create 3d artworks
- See themselves as artists and designers
Methodology:
- Students will be guided to learn several step-by-step technical processes, balanced with opportunities to explore, discover and find out
- They will use problem-solving skills to design, create and modify their work in a range of media
Assessment:
- Assessment includes the hands-on making of the artworks themselves, as well as an ongoing self-reflection process throughout and presentation of the final project
