Creative Adventures

Prerequisite:

Open to students entering grade(s): Grade 2 - 5

Course Description:

Creative Adventures offers students exciting opportunities to invent, design, create and make a range of artworks. We will be learning a variety of technical skills along the way including drawing techniques, watercolour painting, design, stencilling, basic sewing, book making and more.

We will find inspiration around us based upon pattern games, natural items and ourselves students will be able to work on their own artworks as well as make collaborative pieces together.

Learner Outcomes:

Students will:

  • Learn how art enables us to learn about the world.
  • Learn how drawing helps us to represent the world through various techniques.
  • Learn how the arts can help us to learn about the world around us.
  • Learn how art can help us express personal stories.
  • Learn the language and vocabulary of art as they discuss each other’s work.
  • Develop their design and drawing abilities
  • See themselves as artists and designers.

Methodology:

  • Students will be guided to learn step-by-step technical processes, balanced with opportunities to explore, discover and find out.
  • They will use problem-solving skills to design, create and modify their work.

Assessment:

  • Assessment includes the hands on making of the artworks themselves, as well as an ongoing self-reflection process throughout and presentation of the final project.
  • Students will document their projects and display their results throughout the programme.
