Junior Sports Adventure

Course Description:

Junior Sports Adventure is an exciting opportunity for children who are enthusiastic to get active and seek adventure! Designed and led by experienced teaching staff this course is catered to all levels of ability. It offers an exciting variety of multiple activities and challenges in a safe, fun, well-supervised learning environment filled with age-appropriate, daily indoor and (weather permitting) outdoor programming.

Campers will challenge themselves through team games and adventure based activities. They will also have the opportunity to further develop athletic skills through participating and creating fun activities and games. Throughout this course, campers will foster an appreciation for physical activity and important elements of sport such as team building, cooperation, communication, collaboration, resilience, sportsmanship, leadership, and responsibility with a focus on active engagement, fair play and, most of all, enjoyment.

To help campers fully participate, please ensure your child comes dressed in comfortable sportswear and athletic shoes. Campers should bring a water bottle each day; refill stations are available on campus.

Learner Outcomes:

Students will:

  • Participate in fun and engaging activities while learning how to play a variety of sports and recreational games
  • Be given an opportunity to try new sports and recreational activities
  • Further enhance current athletic skill set
  • Learn the skills necessary to be a positive team player, to be gracious in defeat, and to collaborate in a supportive and constructive manner with their peers

Methodology:

  • Fun, differentiated activities to cater for all abilities
  • Structured sessions in traditional and non-traditional games / activities
  • Group activities to promote social skills, team building, problem solving and to encourage friendships
  • Fun

Assessment:

  • Campers are given formative assessment for, where appropriate, the setting of specific goals
  • Ongoing, constructive feedback will be given in all activities throughout the duration of the camp
