Program Overview

The Upper Primary Strings ASA is an inclusive instrumental music program emphasizing the joy of playing together and fostering a creative and collaborative community for Stringed Instrument musicians. The program includes focussed instruction on the Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass, and musicians perform  a range of musical genres from Classical to Contemporary. The UP Strings ASA  welcomes students of all levels, from beginners to experienced performers, providing a supportive environment for musical exploration and enjoyment in four string ensembles. Allegra (Beginner) Ensemble

Students in the Allegra class are Grade 3 - 5  and ready to begin focussed instrumental music lessons on the Violin, Viola, Cello or Double Bass.   Through the twice weekly lessons, students will experience a focus class where a range of technical and interpretative skills are developed, and a collaborative team-based ensemble class.

 

Brio (Intermediate) Ensemble

Students in the Brio Ensemble are introduced to increasingly complex ensemble concepts and technical expectations. The Brio Ensemble meets twice per week, with one class focussing on technical and interpretive development, with the second class implementing and refining skills in an ensemble setting.  

 

Con Brio  (Intermediate Advanced) Ensemble

Students in the Con Brio class exhibit developing skills on Bowed String instruments. They refine technical and aural skills while honing ensemble playing and consolidating technique and musical skills. The class meets twice weekly for technical and skills focus session and ensemble refinement, building on complex concepts and expectations for musical growth.

 

Caprice (Advanced) Ensemble

Students in the Caprice class are in Grade 3-5 and displaying advanced level technique and ensemble team skills on a Bowed String instrument.  Caprice Ensemble students extend their technical and aural skills whilst further developing their interpretive and performance skills.
