Course Description:

Toastmasters has long been known as a platform for adults to develop public speaking and leadership skills. But did you know there's a growing movement of Toastmasters-style programs designed specifically for children? These programs help young minds build confidence, communication skills, and leadership abilities in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.

Our Toastmasters Junior program follows similar principles to adult Toastmasters but is tailored for younger audiences. It provides a structured yet fun environment where kids can develop essential life skills, becoming the leaders of tomorrow who are ready to navigate the ever-changing challenges of today's world!

Learner Outcomes:

Our Toastmasters Junior program offers numerous advantages for children, extending beyond just public speaking!

  • Development of confidence and communication skills
  • Critical thinking abilities
  • Organizational skills
  • Overcoming fear of public speaking
  • Conducting meetings
  • Leadership opportunities

  • Cultivation of creativity and essential life skills in a structured environment

Methodology:

The course instructor will act as a facilitator, allowing students to conduct their own meetings and unleashing their individual potential. Through extensive practice in the format of Toastmasters meetings, with an emphasis on prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, and evaluations, combined with practical workshops and self, peer, and group reflection sessions, students will engage in problem-solving and learn from their mistakes. By the end of the program, they will have completed a special project to showcase their developed skills and knowledge in their areas of interest!

Assessment:

Assessment in Toastmasters Junior will be continuous and formative, focusing on the improvement and development of each participant. The assessment methods include:

Speech Evaluations: Each participant will deliver prepared and impromptu speeches, which will be evaluated by peers and instructors based on content, delivery, and organization.

Participation: Active participation in group discussions, role-playing activities, and workshops will be monitored and encouraged.

Completion Certificates: Participants who attend all sessions and actively engage in the activities will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing their efforts and achievements.
