Rock Climbing
This program makes the Middle School Climbing Wall at the Tai Tam Campus available to HKIS students after school. The course runs over the second semester (T2) of Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), starting in February and finishing at the end of May. This year the program will be 13-16 sessions depending on whether you are in Primary, Middle or High School and the day you choose to select. This ECA program encourages students to challenge themselves physically and mentally, while at the same time being a great social activity with friends on the many climbing routes available on the wall.
As a plus, we will organise a couple outdoor bonus weekend sessions to introduce students to outdoor climbing in Sheko in the last quarter of the ECA term. These sessions would be offered to our climbers at a much discounted rate; more information and locations sent out during the ECA term. We encourage students to try at least one, and bring what they have learned at the school climbing wall to the outdoors!
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students will learn the fundamental safety aspect of climbing and climbing technique
- Students will be introduced to several basic and versatile knots for climbing and other outdoor uses
