Culinary Experience in The Kid Kitchen

Open to students entering grade(s):
Session 1 & 2 (AM class): Grade 7 to 9
Session 1 & 2 (PM class): Grade 4 to 6
Course Description:
Enrich your cooking and baking skills while having fun! After whipping up a meal, have you ever wondered how nutritious it is? Is math and science always applied in the kitchen? Whether you're a "Junior Masterchef" in the making or just someone that loves food, this course is perfect to express your creativity in the Kid Kitchen. This course is for students interested in learning new kitchen techniques straight from a professional chef, get to try out delicious recipes and be aware of the importance of preparing not just delicious meals but nutritious ones as well. Students will also learn how to collaborate with other students and create their edible masterpieces by the end of the course!

Students will:
- Learn the importance of safety and kitchen techniques applied in both cooking and baking
- Gain awareness on the importance of nutrition in the food they prepare and eat
- Apply Math and Science concepts through cooking
- Develop an appreciation for different cuisines
- Prepare a variety of meals with varying difficulty levels (easy to more challenging recipes)
- Understand the value of collaboration in the kitchen
- Create their own edible masterpiece by the end of the course
Methodology:
Students will immerse themselves in the Kid Kitchen and learn kitchen safety, cooking and baking techniques, explore different tastes by following recipes from different cuisines around the world. They will understand the value of teamwork and prepare dishes varying from breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and desserts. Students will then create their own dish by the end of the course to express their creativity through food.
