Edible and Non-Edible Creations
Prerequisite:
Open to students entering grade(s): Reception 2
Course Description:
Is making 'goop' the same as making ice cream? What's the difference between making cookies and making playdough? How long of a strip of paper do I need for a crown? Come and learn how to make these and more through the skills of reading recipes and various ways of measuring! We will explore and experiment to create edible and non-edible things to take home. In addition, a fun-filled personalized recipe book to take home at the end of the course!
Learner Outcomes:
Students will:
- Explore the world of recipes, mixing ingredients, texture, smell, color and exciting creation experiences found in this course
- Make predictions as they mix and observe changes of their combined ingredients in their creations
- Carefully record the ingredients changed in order to produce the best results
- Develop problem-solving skills whilst being challenged to follow directions
- Enjoy working with fun, exciting or even tasty experiences each day
- Have the opportunity to review their math skills including strategies of counting, measuring and pan-balance weighing
Methodology:
Hands on experiential, including both teacher led explorations and student led explorations.
