Language acquisition will be consistently connected to Hispanic and Germanic cultures and we will look at the work of some Spanish, and German-speaking musicians, writers, and artists.
Learner Outcomes:
Students will:
- Be familiar with a new language and culture
- Increase their confidence in language acquisition
- Learn new vocabulary and grammar in the context
- Be able to have a basic conversation in Spanish and German
- Increase their interest in learning about new cultures
Methodology:
Learning a new language using Gamification facilitates learning in a less formal manner, as they don’t have to describe structures or grammar but learn them embedded in a more authentic and engaging context. This course will focus mainly on the communicative approach and we will emphasize oral interactions as a path to learning in a more meaningful methodology. We will use games such as role-plays, board strategy games, quizzes as well as interactive online escape rooms to learn Spanish and German and Hispanic/Germanic cultures in a fun and engaging manner.
